Synopsis:
Mid 30's Hyeon-su Nam (Tae-hyun Cha) is a popular radio d.j. and entertainer (who was even more popular in his younger days as a teen idol).
One day, Jeong-nam Hwang (Bo-yeong Park) suddenly appears and tells Hyeon-su that he is her father. Furthermore, she informs him that he is now a grandfather to her young son, Ki-dong. Jeong-nam then follows Hyeon-su everywhere he goes. This causes the media to take notice and mistakenly identify Hyeon-su and Jeong-nam as a couple. A complicated scandal then erupts.

" “Speed Scandal” is a movie that came out of nowhere, and is now packing ‘em in at the Korean box office. At first glance, the movie doesn’t seem all that special. The only recognizable name in Speed Scandal is Tae-hyun Cha, known for his performance in the 2001 film “My Sassy Girl,” but hasn’t had a break-out hit since. The movie is also directed by first time director Hyeong-cheol Kang.
Since the movie’s premiere on December 4th, the film has sat atop the Korean box office for three weeks in a row (astounding number in itself in this weak Korean movie year). What’s more interesting is that Speed Scandal’s weekend numbers has actually risen since its release. For its opening weekend Speed Scandal brought in 414,107 viewers, the movie’s second weekend brought in 498,684 viewers, and now in its third week the movie has brought in 544, 234 viewers. Obviously strong word of mouth is playing an important part in the movie’s success. In three short weeks, Speed Scandal already ranks as the 6th most successful Korean film in the 2008 calendar year.
The movie itself is set up as a fun comedy. Tae-hyun Cha plays Hyeon-su Nam, a 30′ish radio disc jockey who one day encounters a teenage girl claiming to be his daughter. Furthermore, the young girl (played by Bo-yeong Park) has an infant son, which now makes Hyeon-su a grandfather. The girl then follows Hyeon-su everywhere he goes and soon enough, the media notices and scandal starts to brew. "
